In Irkutsk, a large cleanup of illegal dumps is starting. The municipal company Irkutskavtodor has won the waste removal auction and is preparing contracts with contractors. About 80 percent of the waste is construction materials, and the city center will be cleaned first. The key day will be September 15, when Irkutsk joins the nationwide campaign Lets do it. 300 vehicles and thousands of volunteers will go out, and garbage trucks will be tracked by GPS GLONASS.

The large-scale campaign will be carried out by the municipal enterprise “Irkutskavtodor,” which recently won the auction for waste removal. The contract amount was 8 million 700 thousand rubles.
As Irkutskavtodor Director Radik Farazutdinov said, the enterprise will begin signing contracts with contractors on September 5. It is already known that among them are two major Irkutsk enterprises, Spetsavtokhozyaistvo and Sibekotrans.
As Radik Farazutdinov noted, the volumes that need to be removed are still being calculated. However, it is already known today that 80 percent of the waste stored at unauthorized dumps consists of construction debris.
The enterprise is currently compiling a logistics map. Areas requiring cleanup, waste volumes, and the route for the upcoming transportation are being marked on it. Cleanup will begin with the removal of waste from the central part of the city.
September 15 will be the main day for restoring order. On this day, together with the whole country, Irkutsk will take part in the “Let’s Do It!” campaign. At one time, 300 units of equipment and thousands of volunteers will go out onto the city streets to help enterprises with waste cleanup. Specialists will be able to monitor how the garbage trucks move thanks to the GPS-GLONASS system.
