Near the Rossiya cinema in Irkutsk, three surveillance cameras were installed to help police stop noisy groups, fights and other order violations. Daily complaints from residents about evening and night noise led to this measure, and camera footage can now be used to hold violators accountable. Authorities are also considering equipping entrances and houses in the Leninsky district with video surveillance.
On September 5, at the initiative of the administration of the Leninsky District and Police Department No. 4 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Irkutsk, the private security agency “Vityaz” installed three video surveillance cameras near the “Rossiya” cinema. The modern equipment is mounted on light poles and covers practically the entire area near the cinema.Every day, the police hotline receives 5-6 complaints from people living near “Rossiya.” They say that in the evening and at night, many noisy groups gather near the cinema, loud music is played, and fights occur. This issue has also been raised repeatedly at public reports on the work of the Leninsky District before the public. Now, police officers are confident, video recordings can be used to bring those disturbing the peace to administrative and criminal responsibility.
At present, employees of the Leninsky administration and the police are working on the issue of equipping entrances and houses in the Leninsky District with video surveillance cameras.
