In Irkutsk, the Sinyushina Gora district marked its 58th anniversary with a big celebration that brought together over a thousand residents, workers of enterprises and institutions. A parade, sports competitions at the Rekord stadium and new venues, then a concert near the Orion cinema made the day truly family oriented and large scale. The article tells how the district, which grew around the Oil and Fat Plant, continues to develop thanks to active residents and shared traditions.
For the fourth year in a row, at the end of September, the Sinyushina Gora neighborhood celebrates its birthday. The main impetus for the birth of the neighborhood was the construction of the Fat-and-Oil Combine at the end of 1954. From that moment, the history of the development of this area began. Today it is one of the largest and most significant neighborhoods in Irkutsk. Many enterprises, institutions, and organizations have been built and operate here – the Novo-Irkutsk Thermal Power Plant, the brewery, Irkutskenergotrans, the Fat-and-Oil Combine, kindergartens, schools, colleges, hospitals, clinics, a cinema, and libraries. On September 22, the neighborhood celebrated the 58th anniversary of its founding. The festivities began with a ceremonial procession from the Fat-and-Oil Combine to Rekord Stadium, in which more than a thousand people took part – the celebration brought together neighborhood residents, teams from enterprises, educational institutions, and healthcare organizations. After the teams were lined up at the stadium, the Sinyushina Gora Records - 2012 competitions began. Streetball, mini-football, and relay races took place on the fields of Rekord Stadium. Volleyball enthusiasts were welcomed by two recently opened multifunctional courts on Ryabikov Boulevard and Marshal Konev Street.
“We can confidently say that the tradition of celebrating the neighborhood’s birthday has taken hold. Year by year, the number of participants is growing. This is truly a family celebration, in which everyone takes part, from young to old. Our neighborhood grows and develops only thanks to our joint work and the contribution of the active residents of Sinyushina Gora,” Deputy Andrey Labygin said in his greeting to the participants.
The winners of the “Fun Starts” relay race were members of Team No. 5 School and Kindergarten No. 96; in the streetball competition, the best were the players of the ProfStal-Toyota team; and the traveling cup of Deputy Andrey Labygin in mini-football was won by representatives of the Regional College of Pedagogical Education. In volleyball among women’s teams, the activists of the Sinegorye territorial public self-government association stood out, while among the men’s teams the best was Team No. 2 School.
After the competitions, a festive concert was held near the Orion cinema, and active neighborhood residents were presented with letters of appreciation from the deputy and the Sinegorye territorial public self-government association.
