In the square on Lenin Street, at the start of the 130th block, the Babr figure, the symbol of Irkutsk, was installed the evening before. The bronze sculpture, 3.65 meters high and 4 meters long, cost the city about 8 million rubles, and landscaping around it will continue, steps may appear and the granite tiles will be replaced. The memorial stone that stood here before will be moved to the future monument to the Decembrists.

The “Babr” figure was installed the evening before on Lenin Street in the square where the 130th Quarter begins.
As architect Olga Smirnova said, there were no difficulties in installing the symbol of Irkutsk. The sculpture was mounted without any excavation on a small base. Landscaping around the monument will continue. Since the pedestal with the babr is located on a rise, steps may be laid up to it. It is also planned to replace the granite tiles, which should match in tone those laid in the 130th Quarter.
The memorial stone that stood in the square earlier is now in storage and will be placed at the site of the future monument to the Decembrists.
Recall that the authors of the “Babr” figure are sculptor Natalya Bakut and architect Olga Smirnova. The 3.65-meter-tall, 4-meter-wide figure is made of bronze. Its cost amounted to about 8 million rubles. The funds were allocated from the budget of Irkutsk.
