In Irkutsk, at a ceremonial meeting for Teacher's Day, the city's best teachers were honored and their contribution to raising and educating children was noted. The article describes awards to teachers and school staffs, and the high achievements of their students, from victories in national olympiads to international competitions. Special attention is given to how teachers work directly shows in the success of the younger generation.
In Irkutsk, a ceremonial gathering of the city’s teaching community was held in honor of Teacher’s Day, attended by the best educators from the city’s educational institutions.Today, more than 7,600 education workers are employed in Irkutsk’s education system. Since 2006, 71 teachers have received monetary awards for winning the “Best Teacher of Russia” competition within the framework of the priority national project “Education.” In the 2011–2012 academic year, 18 primary school teachers received the Governor of the Irkutsk Region’s “First Teacher” Award, and 20 teaching teams from educational institutions were awarded the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Prize. The winner of the 23rd regional professional skills competition “Teacher of the Year – 2012” was Russian language and literature teacher Zoya Kosmakova from School No. 23 in Irkutsk, while Alexey Zaychikov, a physical education teacher at Gymnasium No. 3, won the 4th All-Russian competition “My Best Lesson.”
“Your profession requires complete dedication, tireless work, and devotion to the chosen cause. You impart knowledge, teach creative thinking and independent decision-making, and together with your students you go through the important period of shaping their character and life principles. All your successes are reflected in your students’ achievements. And this is the result of great, thoughtful work,” noted Andrey Labygin. “It is largely up to you what the younger generation will be like, and therefore the future of our city. On behalf of the deputies of the Irkutsk City Duma, I wish you to always improve, never stop at what has been achieved, and open up new horizons for yourselves and your students. I wish you good health, well-being, and inspiration!”.
The upcoming Teacher’s Day was no exception. At the ceremonial gathering, 130 teachers were awarded for their achievements in educating the younger generation with Certificates of Honor and letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the administration of the city of Irkutsk, the Department of Education, as well as the jubilee medal “In Commemoration of the 350th Anniversary of Irkutsk.”
The high level of the teachers’ mastery is evidenced by the successes of their young students. Thus, in 2012, 18 students became winners and prize-winners of the final stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad, three of them became absolute winners in law, and Alexander Kalmynin (Lyceum-Boarding School No. 1), as part of the Russian mathematics team in Argentina in July 2012, won a gold medal. Oleg Glushkov (Children’s Technical Creativity Center) won a second-degree diploma at the fourteenth international conference of scientific and technical works of school students “Start into Science 2012,” Tamara Timofeeva (House of Children’s Creativity No. 5) became the winner of the International Kickboxing Championship, and the team of students from Children’s and Youth Sports School No. 7 “Zenit” became the winner of the All-Russian bandy competition in Obukhovo. And these are far from all the results of the students and their mentors. This year, the teachers are confident that there will be no fewer victories; the main thing is to respect your students, believe in their abilities, and give them only the best knowledge.
