In Irkutsk, the eco campaign Lets make Irkutsk eco friendly was summed up and about 600 of the most active participants were honored. The project was called a breakthrough.

On October 9, the results were summed up and participants in the eco-campaign “Let’s Make Irkutsk Eco-Friendly” were ceremoniously honored at the Irkutsk city administration. About 600 Irkutsk residents—the most active participants in the eco-campaign—received “Big Human Thank You” certificates from the organizers of the “Let’s Do It” campaign and letters of appreciation from the Public Chamber of the city of Irkutsk.
“We have accomplished something that no one in Irkutsk had ever done before us. This is a breakthrough!”—with these words, one of the ideologists and organizers of the campaign, Director of the Botanical Garden and Chairman of the Public Chamber of the city of Irkutsk of the 4th convocation Viktor Kuzevanov, opened the ceremonial meeting.
“Comrades!—Irkutsk Mayor Viktor Kondrashov addressed the campaign participants. —You did more than just clear the streets of Irkutsk of trash. You brought about a revolution in the minds of Irkutsk residents. The ‘Let’s Do It’ campaign is a major victory in the fight for the cleanliness of Irkutsk, in the fight for a responsible attitude of city residents toward their city. This is the first large-scale campaign initiated, prepared, and carried out by the citizens themselves. The results of the campaign speak for themselves. About 20,000 city residents supported the campaign. Across the country, the campaign brought together 50,000 participants. Our result is the best of all. 17.5 thousand cubic meters of solid household waste were removed. All this shows that we will achieve our goal of making our city the most environmentally clean, beautiful, and democratic! I thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
The campaign participants were thanked by the organizers: Marina Kondrashova, Chair of the Board of the “Heritage of Irkutsk Philanthropists” foundation; Oksana Zayats, organizer of the “Trash Has a Home” project; and Sergey Mayarenkov, head of the “Cheloveki” project. They all noted that the campaign is a huge step toward a developed civil society, a tremendous experience in implementing such a large-scale project, and effective experience in cooperation between government, business, and society.
Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Housing and Utilities Committee Alexander Nikolaev and head of MUP “Irkutskavtodor” Radik Farazutdinov warmly and sincerely thanked the campaign participants. MUP “Irkutskavtodor” took the most active part in carrying out the campaign. Thanks to the efforts of the enterprise, 12,641 cubic meters of trash were removed during the first two weeks of September. On the day of the campaign, 3 thousand cubic meters of solid household waste were removed. From September 16 to October 7, 2 thousand cubic meters were removed. That is, a total of 17.6 thousand cubic meters of solid household waste were removed in just one month. During the month, 200 units of Irkutskavtodor equipment were in operation, and on September 15, the day of the campaign, 120 vehicles were used.
