The day before, the “Polite Driver” campaign took place in Irkutsk, during which traffic police officers stopped not violators on the city streets, but polite drivers who give way to pedestrians. The campaign was held on the eve of Motorist’s Day. Inspectors congratulated road users on the upcoming holiday and gave them commemorative gifts.
Police noted more than 30 law-abiding motorists, and these were not only owners of private vehicles, but also trolleybus drivers and heavy construction equipment operators. Similar campaigns, with the support of public organizations and entrepreneurs, will continue to be held in the city.
As a reminder, “Motorist’s Day” is a national professional holiday for road transport workers, celebrated in the Russian Federation annually on the last Sunday of October. Until October 1, 1980, this holiday was called “Driver’s Day.”
