New educational and creative workshops on patterned weaving on looms have opened in Irkutsk, one in the Krylaty children's club, the other in the Communication club for people with disabilities. The Heirs of Irkutsk Weavers project received 80 thousand rubles from the city budget for looms, equipment, and teaching materials. Organizers expect at least 200 schoolchildren and 30 people with disabilities to learn the basics of weaving each year.

On November 1, the educational and creative workshop “Pattern Weaving on a Loom” opened at the “Krylaty” children’s club. And last week, a loom appeared at the “Obshchenie” city club for people with disabilities in the “Pervomaysky” neighborhood.
The looms were purchased as part of the project “Heirs of Irkutsk Weavers.” According to the project organizer, the head of the educational and creative workshop “Pattern Weaving on a Loom” of the “Onyx” association, Galina Berezina, 80,000 rubles were allocated from the city budget this year for the project’s implementation. With these funds, 2 looms, the necessary related equipment, and teaching materials were purchased. The workshops are led by masters who completed training at the “Onyx” association.
“These workshops create conditions for annual training in the basics of the weaving craft for at least 200 schoolchildren and 30 people with disabilities, which will have a beneficial effect on the development of their creative abilities and useful activities close to home,” Galina Berezina noted.
