The Ministry of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy has been instructed to submit proposals for a programmatic approach to the development of mass sports for consideration by the Council for Physical Culture and Sports under the Governor, and for discussion by regional deputies and the public.
- We have a huge number of children who are involved in sports, and those who would like to come to sports halls. We must provide them with comprehensive support: by creating sports infrastructure, attracting experienced coaches, and providing equipment. But we must clearly understand the effect of the resources invested; they must reach every child, - Sergei Eroshchenko emphasized.
Minister of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy Igor Ivanov proposes the creation of regional specialized children’s and youth sports schools as one of the mechanisms for the development and support of mass sports.
At today’s meeting of the Government of the Angara Region, the issue of creating another specialized youth sports school for football was considered. Branches of the school will open in municipalities where infrastructure for this sport already exists: Irkutsk, Bratsk, Angarsk, Cheremkhovo, Sayansk, and the Ust-Ordynsky District. Each branch will be able to accommodate 250 children.
The Governor instructed the ministry to analyze the need for specialized schools in other sports as well, developed in the municipalities of the region, and to prepare a unified procedure for the establishment and operation of such institutions.
It is planned that the specialized children’s and youth sports school for football will begin operating on January 1, 2013, after the remark has been addressed and taking into account the proposals voiced by the head of the region and the participants in the meeting of the Government of the Irkutsk Region.
