In Irkutsk, municipal kindergartens were additionally staffed with 797 children, almost four large preschools. The city says changes to SanPiN helped optimize groups and eliminate waiting lists in middle, senior, and preparatory groups in many kindergartens. More than 9 thousand children already have places, and three more kindergartens are planned to open by year end.

“Today we additionally enrolled 797 children in municipal preschool educational institutions, which is practically four large kindergartens,” noted the chair of the commission, head of the Education Department of the Irkutsk city administration, Valentina Peregudova. “This year, changes in SanPiN allowed us to optimize the composition of groups and carry out additional enrollment in kindergartens. In most preschool institutions, the queue for middle, senior, and preparatory groups has been completely closed.”
The main enrollment in kindergartens takes place in July. Since there are children who cannot attend kindergarten for medical reasons or who move with their parents to other districts and cities, the procedure of additional enrollment is carried out.
As of today, municipal kindergartens have provided places for more than 9,000 children. About 14,000 children aged 2 to 7 are waiting for their turn to get a place in kindergarten.
By the end of the year, three kindergartens will open in Irkutsk: two in the Leninsky District, on Sevastopolskaya and Michurina streets, and one in the Sverdlovsky District, on Almaznaya Street.
