The government of the Angara region will, by the end of 2012, together with regional universities, prepare programs to improve the efficiency of the educational process and research activity for submission to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. The reason was monitoring results, which found signs of inefficiency in four Irkutsk universities and six branches, however the governor stressed their significant scientific and material base, as well as their important role in the region's development. The authorities intend to develop such programs in every higher education institution in the region.

The Government of Priangarye will, by the end of 2012, jointly with the region’s universities, submit programs to improve the efficiency of the educational process and research activities to the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Governor of the Irkutsk Region, Sergei Eroshchenko.
As a reminder, on November 1 the official website of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science published the results of a monitoring assessment of the performance of all state universities and their branches. According to the analysis, in the Irkutsk Region four universities show signs of inefficiency (East Siberian State Academy of Education, Irkutsk State Agricultural Academy, Irkutsk State Linguistic University, and Irkutsk State Medical University) and six branches of higher education institutions under the jurisdiction of federal government bodies (the Ust-Kut branch of the Institute of Water Transport of the Novosibirsk State Academy of Water Transport, the branch of Bratsk State University in Ust-Ilimsk, the branch in Usolye-Sibirskoye of Irkutsk State Technical University, the branch of Irkutsk State University of Railway Engineering in Bratsk, the branch of Irkutsk State University in Angarsk, and the branch of the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism in Irkutsk).
– These universities have a strong scientific and material base. The branches of state universities located in Priangarye are an important factor in the region’s economic and social development and ensure the availability of educational services for the region’s residents, the Governor noted.
Sergei Eroshchenko also emphasized that programs to improve the efficiency of education need to be developed in every higher education institution in the Irkutsk Region.
