Zapovednoye Pribaikalye surveyed 449 visitors: more than half live in the Irkutsk Region and 62% come with their families.
The federal agency Zapovednoye Pribaikalye has summed up a survey of visitors to its tourist routes in 2025. The questionnaires were filled in by 449 people — before receiving a visitor permit and immediately after the trip.
More than 50% of visitors live in the Irkutsk Region, 34% came from other regions and about 2% were foreigners. 62% travelled with their families. For 49% it was their first visit to the park. The main motives were Baikal’s wild nature, inspiration and active recreation. About 48% are ready to spend several days in the park. In visitors’ opinion, roads, sanitary facilities and signage need improving; at the same time respondents stressed the importance of minimal interference in ecosystems.
