New routes will appear in the south of Olkhon, at the source of the Angara and near Bolshoye Goloustnoye.
According to Umar Ramazanov, director of the federal agency Zapovednoye Pribaikalye, about 250 km of eco-trails have been created in Pribaikalsky National Park, and 86% of them are equipped with information boards, signage, benches and picnic areas. Some routes are impassable in summer, so equipment is brought in when the ground freezes and snowmobiles can get through.
In 2027 at least three new trails are planned: in the south of Olkhon — to reduce the load on the most popular northern route and protect the endemic Olkhon vole — at the source of the Angara, and a loop route near Bolshoye Goloustnoye, continuing the trail to Lake Sukhoye.
