Wreaths, a round dance around a birch tree and a talk about the “green holy days” — 31 May, admission free.

On 31 May 2026 the Russian birch festival “Trinity” took place on Yunost Island in Irkutsk. Guests heard about the history and customs of the holiday, learned to weave wreaths and paint stones, and took part in a quiz, folk games, the “brook” game and a round dance around a birch tree.

In the old days Trinity was called the “green holy days” — the farewell to spring. Over time folk customs merged with church traditions: houses and churches were decorated with greenery, people held festivities and wove wreaths. Admission to the festival was free.
