This year the competition for hospitality students in Irkutsk Region got an important update, participants were given a two month preparatory internship in hotels, where they can learn the basics of hotel business and get recommendations from hoteliers. The program will also include new tests, solving situations in English for administrators and a separate nomination for food service.
As Marina Rozhkova noted, starting this year, as part of the competition, a two-month preparatory internship program has been organized for third- and fourth-year students of specialized hospitality programs at the Irkutsk Institute of International Tourism, the Institute of Social Sciences of ISLU, the Faculty of Service and Advertising of ISU, and the Faculty of Service and Tourism of BSUEL.– As part of the competition’s special program, students will receive professional knowledge and learn the basics of hotel management. The universities have fielded teams of two students acting as administrators and two as service staff (housekeepers). Each team will complete an internship at three hotels. After that, in the competition, each university will be represented by a team consisting of one administrator and one housekeeper. The selection of the best students will be made by the educational institution based on the recommendations of hoteliers, – the head of the tourism agency said.
By decision of the organizing committee, this year the competition program for hotel administrators includes a category in which participants will have to resolve one of the situations presented to them in English. A separate category will be provided for hotel food service departments.
