In Irkutsk they are discussing a new bus route scheme via Akademichesky Bridge to connect outlying districts with the center and reduce travel time for passengers. Proposals include extending routes to Zeleny, Topkinsky, Radishchev and other areas, and launching semi express and short connecting services. According to Duma speaker Andrey Labygin, these measures will ease the road network and improve city transport organization.

The main proposed bus routes of the route network via Akademichesky Bridge:
- Sinyushina Gora microdistrict – Center;
- Pervomaisky microdistrict – Center;
- Universitetsky microdistrict – Center;
- Yubileiny microdistrict – Center.
At the same time, the city center is considered as an intermediate stop, and transport service will be extended to outlying areas such as Zeleny, Topkinsky, Radishcheva, Rabocheye, Marata, etc.
Thus, the route of passenger transport will be shortened from Pervomaisky to the city center by 38%, from Universitetsky by 45%, and from Yubileiny by 2.7%.
In May of this year, a commission inspection of road conditions on the proposed routes will be carried out to determine whether they comply with road safety standards. Carriers will develop and approve route schemes and their passports.
In connection with the planned purchase of buses for MUP “Irkutskavtotrans” in 2013, the issue of organizing semi-express (express) service in the directions of “N. Leno microdistrict – Airport”, “Sinyushina Gora microdistrict – Universitetsky – Airport”, “Sinyushina Gora – Zeleny microdistrict” is being considered. In addition, short connecting routes are being developed to transport Irkutsk residents from new residential microdistricts to major stops, for example, Berezovy microdistrict (N. Leno) – 6th microdistrict of N. Leno, Ershovsky microdistrict – Mukhina St., etc.
“The process of organizing public transport has long been a subject of discussion by the deputies. We see all the problems in this area of public service and demand systematic work from the administration. The proposals we heard today are the most successful in recent years. They will make it possible to relieve the street and road network and lay the foundation for restoring order in the organization of transport traffic in Irkutsk,” noted Duma Speaker Andrey Labygin.
