For the first time since 2008 the building will undergo major work; the park and the other exhibition spaces remain open.

Repairs have begun in the main building of the V. P. Sukachev Estate, the historical and memorial department of the Irkutsk Art Museum. The interiors, walls and floors will be renewed, fire and security alarms and automatic fire suppression will be installed, and the front porch will be fully restored. The contractor is due to finish by the end of 2026.

The estate is a historical and cultural monument of federal significance, and its main house with an anchor on the roof often appears on souvenirs. According to the museum’s director Natalya Sysoeva, there had been no major repairs here since the restoration was completed and the estate opened in 2008. The first stage is funded from non-budgetary sources with the support of Irkutsk International Airport. While the work is under way the main house is closed; the memorial exhibition and the winter-garden plants have been moved to other rooms, and the park and the other halls are open.
