The animal was “patrolling” the stop at kilometre 139 and was not afraid of people.

Pribaikalsky National Park closed the “Circum-Baikal Railway” and “Pereezd stop — Circum-Baikal Railway” routes. On the afternoon of 25 September 2025 a bear appeared near kilometre 139; inspectors of the Marituy forestry district judged its behaviour threatening: the animal was walking around the buildings at the stop and was not afraid of people. According to local residents, it was attracted by food waste from a dump. The “Tazherany” and “Tyrgan — Sagan-Zaba” routes also remained closed.

Before travelling to the Circum-Baikal Railway, check the route status on the Zapovednoye Pribaikalye website.
