Irkutsk chefs spent two days cooking Siberian dishes, and confectioners baked a three-tier cake 36 square metres in size.
On 28 and 29 June 2025 the gastronomic festival “Sytyy Babr” (“Well-Fed Babr”) took place on the square by the monument to Alexander III. A food lecture hall operated on the square: Irkutsk chefs cooked Siberian dishes and held tastings and master classes. The organisers warned that the dishes from the master classes could not be tasted anywhere else afterwards.
The Stefania confectionery (chef Ivan Tolstikhin) took on a three-tier cake weighing about 1.5 tonnes and covering 36 square metres, and a cooking competition was held as part of the festival. In 2024 about 40,000 people visited the festival over two days.
